News: MASTER GARDENER VOLUNTEERS ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION

The Seneca County Master Gardener Volunteers celebrated Arbor Day and America’s 250th birthday by planting a White Oak at the Seneca County Fairgrounds on April 24. Seneca County Commissioner Bill Frankart was grateful for the chance to speak at the Seneca County Master Gardener Volunteer Tree Dedication Ceremony to praise the work of the Master Gardeners and of OSU Extension in Seneca County.

“The fairgrounds is where town and country come together, so this was the perfect place to plant the tree,” he said.

The ceremony was hosted by Seneca County Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator, Pressley Buurma, from the OSU Extension office in Seneca County. Irene Sours led the plaque dedication, Kathy Yost said a prayer, Ashley Staib sang the national anthem, and Jerrie Pryor read a poem.

The tree was planted near the main gate, where Master Gardener Volunteers tend extensive flower gardens that greet visitors to the fairgrounds. Commissioner Frankart is grateful for the Master Gardeners’ dedication to beautifying the county and for being a competent and ready source of agriculture education.
