Event: Seneca County U.S. Semiquincentennial Kickoff

Join us as Seneca County officially kicks off the U.S. Semiquincentennial with a community celebration honoring 250 years of America! This special kickoff event will feature a historic presentation and look back in time from the Seneca County Museum, highlighting local history and Seneca County’s role in the national story. The program will also include a performance by the New Riegel High School a cappella vocal group, Jacket Company. Guests can enjoy food from Smokin’ Sows Mobile BBQ & Catering and cookies from Kendra’s Cakes while learning more about upcoming America 250 programs, events, and initiatives planned throughout the year. This event is open to the public, free to attend, and everyone is welcome. Registration is recommended to help us plan, and guests are welcome to come and go as they please. Come celebrate history, community, and the beginning of a year-long America 250 celebration in Seneca County!

Seneca County will host its official U.S. Semiquincentennial Kickoff as part of the America 250-Ohio initiative on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11 AM-2 PM at The Historical Octagon House & Farm, located at 7618 N. Twp. Rd. 32, Clyde, OH 43410.

Seneca County has been designated a Designated Community by America 250–Ohio, the State of Ohio’s official U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission. This designation recognizes Seneca County as a local partner responsible for coordinating and promoting official U.S. Semiquincentennial programming aligned with statewide goals throughout 2026.

The kickoff event marks the beginning of a year-long series of programs and activities recognizing the 250th anniversary of the United States. The event is open to the public and free to attend. Registration is recommended to assist with planning, though attendees may arrive and depart at their convenience.

The program will include a historic presentation and local history overview provided by the Seneca County Museum, along with a performance by the New Riegel a cappella vocal group, Jacket Company. Light refreshments and food will be available, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about upcoming America 250 programs and initiatives planned throughout Seneca County.
