Susan Platt, Fostoria
I have been a teacher for 43 years with 39 of them in Seneca County. I am currently serving on the Seneca County Republican Central Committee. I have dedicated my time consistently to support Republican candidates on local, state and federal levels and have been involved in organizing local Republican events to ensure that our conservative values are maintained in Seneca County for future generations.
I am concerned to see a candidate for Seneca County Commissioner who has not voted in a GOP primary in 14 years and is promoting a conservative message in his campaign. This candidate wants us to do for him what he hasn’t done himself. The same candidate stated that he wants to listen to people’s needs. However, he publicly stated during the League of Women Voters’ candidates night that he is in support of expanding the Sunny Farms Landfill near Fostoria. He already took a position on the landfill without listening to the residents’ needs and opinions. This candidate is Adam Smith.
As a Seneca County resident, I have always believed in local control in regards to decisions that impact our community: local decisions regarding our schools and education; local decisions regarding the wind turbines; and local decisions related to the pandemic and how it affects our schools and businesses. I am a firm believer that we should make our decisions about the Fostoria landfill based on feedback from the local residents. I just cannot support a candidate who claims to be a conservative republican but doesn’t vote. I also can’t support a candidate who puts the profits of a private business ahead of the health and safety of our community.
I fully endorse Bill Frankart for Seneca County Commissioner because he stated that he will always stand on the side of local control, not state and federal control. He has exhibited and practiced fiscal responsibility in his job as Adams Township Trustee for 14 years. Bill will be transparent in his decision making and will listen to all county residents.
Respectfully Submitted,
Susan Platt
