As a farmer, the fall is a busy season with harvest, hauling grain and working ground, but there was a lot more happening than just farming. I have been out-and-about meeting with individuals and organizations around the county to learn more about what is important to the citizens of Seneca County.
Learning what’s important to the citizens of Seneca County.
In late September, we enjoyed the summer like weather during the Heritage Festival in Tiffin. I appreciate the support of family and friends that walked with me in the parade. The first Sunday of October, the Friends of the Seneca County Park District hosted the AutumnFest at Garlo Nature Preserve in Bloomvillle. It was another great event and I enjoyed meeting Megan McCoy, Miss Agriculture. At the end of October, Green Springs always puts on a great Halloween parade and I was honored to help judge costumes and floats this year.
My son and I have enjoyed the “Exploring Your Future” events by Seneca County Extension Service and Seneca Conservation District. The first event was at Poet Bio Refining in Fostoria. Brad Pope gave an informative tour. A trip to Kambach Feeds was another great trip, filled with great information.
In November, I attended the adjuratory hearings for the Republic Wind projects in Columbus and participated in the press conference for House Bill 401, which is legislation introduced by State Representative Bill Reineke that protects property rights and gives local control.
There are so many great things happening in Seneca County! Friends and family enjoyed at night in Bascom at Meadowbrook for the Salute to Our Vets Country Concert in November. My family enjoyed the crisp December night as the Tiffin Christmas Tree was lit on the Justice Center lawn.
I look forward to more great events and meeting more citizens of Seneca County.
